Calling at Kettering by Don Breckon.

Jubilee class 4 - 6 - 0 locomotive no. 45684 Jutland at Kettering, with a northbound express from St Pancras. Boys from the town school mingle with porters and passengers enjoying the atmosphere of a main line station. The engine was built for the LMS in 1936 and withdrawn from service at the end of 1965.

Yarmouth Station by Ivan Berryman.

O2 class 0-4-4T No.29 Alverstone gently approaches Yarmouth Station in the summer of 1952 with a train from Newport to Freshwater. Just one year later this picturesque station was closed as the British Transport Commissions axe fell on branch lines around the country.

A4s at York by Barry Price.

No.60009 Union of South Africa stands at the platform as sister engine No.60022 Mallard passes with the southbound Elizabethan from Edinburgh for London c.1960.

Schneider Trophy Race, 1931 by Ivan Berryman.

Flt Lt John Boothman completes a victory run over the packed pier at Ryde, Isle of Wight as he wins the Schneider Trophy in Supermarine S6B, S1595 at a speed of 340mph. Later the same day, its sister aircraft S1596 broke the world air speed record at 379 mph, flown by Flt. Lt Stainforth.

Iron Duke at Dent by David Weston.

The magnificent railway line, now spared, threads its way across the moorland, which can change so rapidly from beautiful and serene to bleak and forbidding.

PS Ryde by Ivan Berryman.

The venerable old paddle steamer Ryde has just backed away from Ryde pier, Isle of Wight, and is about to begin her journey across the Solent to Portsmouth in the summer of 1968. Just one year later the Ryde was withdrawn from service and, having spent a brief period as a floating nightclub, now languishes in the mud at Binfield, near Newport - a rusting hulk, though still recognisable as the proud war veteran she once was.

St Helens Station 1953 by Ivan Berryman.

Passengers on St Helens Station await the arrival of the train from Bembridge in the early summer of 1953. Just months later this picturesque station and its branch would be closed forever, the busy quayside being superceded by the modernised Medina Wharf near Cowes.

Guinevere at Cheeshill by Chris Woods.

GWR Duke Class No.3256 Guinevere rolls gently into Winchester Cheeshill Station on the Didcot Newbury and Southampton railway en route for Southampton in the mid 1930s.
