A French Dragoon Leaving The Field of Battle During The Franco Prussian War by Paul Grolleron Despite their bravery and the occasional tactical success, French Dragoons were ultimately unable to significantly influence the outcome of many battles during the Franco. Prussian War. The Prussian military's superior organization, strategy, and their technological advantage overshadowed the efforts of the French cavalry units. The war's emphasis on entrenched positions and fortified locations reduced the opportunities for successful cavalry charges and manoeuvres. |

Guindey would receive the cross of honour for this action however would go on to die in the Battle of Hanau on the 20th of October 1813, cut down by Bavarian horsemen.
