Commissioned in the RAF in 1939, by 1943 he was in command of No.223 Sqn flying the Baltimore in Tunisia. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross at this time, and a Bar to it in Korea in 1951. He retired as Air Chief Marshal in 1979, and served as Lieutenant Governor of Guernsey from 1980-85. He died in 2018. Please note that this particular signature has been written in pen - not in pencil like most of our signatures. Air Chief Marshal Sir Peter Le Cheminant GBE KCB DFC and Bar (deceased) *Signature Value : £40	Commissioned into the Royal Air Force in 1939, he worked his way up the ranks steadily during World War Two, including a command of No.223 flying the Baltimore aircraft in the Tunisian desert in 1943. Awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, he stayed with the Air Force post war, earning a Bar to his DFC in Korea in 1951. There followed numerous senior positions culminating in Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Allied Forces Central Europe in 1979, the year in which he retired. A year later he took up the position of Lieutenant Governor of Guernsey - the only native of the island to have held the position - serving until 1985. He died on 8th April 2018.
